If a couple of armed robbers just burst into your shop, you’d probably freak the fuck out, but not Dan Rigney…
He took a very inventive approach to the terrifying situation, by creating a makeshift flamethrower to blast fire at the thieves.
Two men with what appeared to be firearms tried to rob the store in Queensland’s Alexandra Hills at 6:30am on Saturday and Rigney took up the only weapons available to him: fly spray and a cigarette lighter.
His valiant attempt was pretty admirable, but the flames only delayed the robbers, as one of the attackers then pointed a gun at the shop owner before raiding the till.
The shopkeeper found an opportunity to leg it as the thieves started helping themselves to cash- they escaped with $680 from the till in Redland City, Australia.
This isn’t the first time the shopkeeper has faced down with robbers either. Six years ago, he chased an armed thief until police managed to arrest him.
You’ve got to give Rigney some credit for thinking so quickly on the spot.
Patron Kylie Kidman told 9News: “I wouldn’t cross him again, that’s for sure.” God, you’re telling us.
I’m sure it’ll make thieves think twice before trying there again…
