Colin Farrell has revealed he was questioned by police as a suspect in an attempted murder case when he was in Australia as a teenager.
The actor made the startling confession while playing a game with his True Detective co-star Vince Vaughn on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Recalling the moment, Farrell said even he was even concerned about his likeness to the criminal when interviewed by police.
For a second, because I had had a blackout that night, I wondered, ‘Could I have done such a thing?’ They showed me a photo-fit, a pencil sketch of the guy that had attempted to murder, this other gentleman – had beat him up and left him in his own apartment, set the apartment on fire and split, thereby leaving him to burn to death – and it was me. They had bushy eyebrows, a mole on his face, spoke even in two dimensions with an Irish accent.
Although Farrell blacked out that evening, the friend he was with did not – and it turned out the pair were at a party “on the other side of town doing ecstasy”.
Although Vaughn and Fallon laughed off the moment, it was clear they weren’t expecting such a dramatic revelation in the light hearted game.
Appearing on the show and speaking to Jimmy Fallon afterwards, Vaughn described the moment as “uncomfortable” and added that, although he loves Farrell, he felt a little nervous when he later went out to dinner with his co-star.
With the life Colin Farrell has led, we really think it’s about time he sat down and wrote his autobiography. We can only imagine some of the other insane life stories the Irish actor has yet to tell!
