UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor isn’t exactly shy about expressing his opinions and he went all in on pretty much every other fighter in the room when he accepted an award last night.
The Irish mixed martial arts superstar walked away with the top prize of ‘Fighter of the Year’ at the World MMA Awards on Friday night, following his quite incredible 2015.
Although he wasn’t at the awards show in Las Vegas in person, McGregor made sure to send over a video acceptance speech filmed from his car in Ireland, where he’s currently in training for his upcoming title tilt against Rafael dos Anjos.
And, it’s safe to say, McGregor did not hold back.
As reported by Fox Sports, he began:
I apologise for not being there. There’s another man that must be slain, another champion that must be dethroned. There’s more numbers that need to be broken. I need to feed all you bums. I need to feed every single one of you in the game, so I’ve got to keep working, because you bums don’t work.
A strong start, I’m sure you’ll agree.
He then took aim at UFC heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum, who dropped out of his scheduled fight this weekend with an injury after his opponent, Cain Velasquez, also bowed out because of an injury.
You’ve got the heavyweight champion who’s a p*ssy pulling out with a sore toe. How’s the heavyweight champion going to pull out with a sore toe? What kind of champion is that? The game is on its knees, so I apologize I can’t be there at the awards, but I am out here putting it in, working, putting in the true work, the work it takes to keep every one of you fed. So thank you, and thank me.
Ouch! Given the size disparity, we don’t expect to see McGregor vs Werdum inside the Octagon anytime soon, although we’d love to see it!
