Last night, comedian and actor Eddie Murphy made his first on-stage appearance since 1987 and he used the occasion to take aim at Bill Cosby.

Anyone who’s seen some of Murphy’s cutting stand-up routines from the 80’s will be aware of his spot on Bill Cosby impression, but this time he put it to a very different use.

The 54-year-old made the gags over the weekend when he appeared at the Kennedy Center to accept the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, an award previously won by Cosby himself back in 2009.

Murphy recently refused to revive his famous Cosby impression for Saturday Night Live’s 40 anniversary special, because he felt it would be hurtful to the 50+ women who have accused Cosby of sexually assaulting them.

Evidently, Murphy has changed his mind!

Speaking at the ceremony, Murphy said:

Bill has one of these. Did y’all make Bill give his back? No, because I know there was a big outcry from people. They was trying to get Bill to give his trophies back. You know you f*cked up when they want you to give your trophies back.

He should do one show where he just comes out and he just talks crazy now. ‘I would like to talk to some of the people who feel like I should give back my motherf*ckin’ trophies!’

The special will air on November 23 on PBS in the U.S. and will no doubt feature more shade thrown by Murphy in Cosby’s direction and at plenty of other people too!
