Saving a penalty is no easy task for a goalkeeper, it’s pot luck at the best of times. But this South Korean goalie decided to give himself an edge.
Lee Bum-Young (C’mon! Grow up!) is in sticks for Busan Ipark in Korea’s K League Classic, when the referee gives a penalty against his team.
During the protests from his team, Bum-Young starts kicking the penalty spot, and destroys it with his boots. He really get’s stuck in as well, and properly makes a mess of it.
The penalty taker steps up, and predictably, puts the spot kick into the car park.
In a brilliant display of shitehousery, while Bum-Young is happy of the miss, his teammate celebrates WITH THE RUINED PENALTY SPOT!!!
I once played in a Sunday league game where a player did this. It didn’t end quite the same. A player from the other team saw it happening and it ended up in a bit of a brawl, and two red cards. The penalty went in as well.
