Cricket legend Freddie Flintoff and comedian Jack Whitehall have teamed up to help men tackle their body image issues.
The duo held an all too open discussion about the details of their own struggles with ‘manxiety’ and it’s pretty hilarious.
Jack revealed that he suffers from heartburn during sex and keeps a bottle of Gaviscon by his bed just in case. He jokes: “She knows as soon as that cap comes off, its business time.”
Whilst Freddie said being surrounded by younger players during his playing career made him feel “old”. He said: “You’re 37 with your belly hanging over your trousers and you’re surrounded by fit lads in their early twenties, you feel old.”
The pair held the revealing chat after a new report by Jacamo revealed that millions of British men suffer from ‘Manxiety’ and dislike the way they look.
In the poll of 2,500 men, almost half (48 per cent) said they desperately want to lose weight while 41 per cent want to tone up.
Apparently, being the butt of their mate’s jokes, getting undressed in front of fitter men and feeling the need to live up to super-fit celebrities all contribute to a lack of body confidence.
Being compared to an ex-partner or even a sibling can also make men doubt their own good looks and desirability.
Hopefully this will encourage other guys to talk more openly about their bodies.
