Back in February, Kanye West tweeted ‘BILL COSBY INNOCENT’. It would be hard to outdo that. Impossible, one would think. But now he’s stuck a nude Bill Cosby in his ‘Famous’ video, and he’s just explained why.
According to Kanye himself, the artistic video, which stars naked (or naked lookalikes of) Ray J, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner, Bill Cosby, George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Chris Brown and Taylor Swift, ‘is a comment on life’, reports Mic.
Drawing inspiration from a Vincent Desiderio painting, all of the figures in the video – which is shot like an amateur porno – are people from the rapper’s life, whether that be in the past or present – almost like shades that have left their mark on the musician.
The clip from the Famous vid includes current and former lovers (Kardashian and Amber Rose), collaborators (Rihanna and Brown), in-laws (Caitlyn Jenner) and people he’s insulted (Swift and former president George W. Bush).
But the ever unpredictable Kanye claims ‘it’s not in support or anti any of [the people in the video]’.
Kanye’s intentions with the video were apparently to toy with alternate realities and the idea that in a different universe perhaps things could’ve gone differently. His relationship with Kim could’ve gone differently. His relationship with George Bush could’ve gone differently. You see where I’m going.
Maybe in some alternative universe me and George Bush could have been friends. I could have been his O.J. Simpson black friend on the golf course.
Personally I like the image – I think it captures the bizarre fallacy of fame and its weird influence and dominance in our lives – whereas in this image, some of the most prominent members of popular culture are all captured naked, pure, and vulnerable.
As for what Kanye says, well I think he’s just chatting out of his arse.
