People have long drawn comparisons between Lego and Minecraft, so it was probably only a matter of time until the two games were combined.
Lego and Minecraft, the original blocky video game about building, have collaborated in the past but now Lego have launched their own rival to the online game.
‘Lego Worlds’ is being developed by the standard Lego video game developer TT Games and is currently only a single-player experience, available to download via Steam Early Access.
Development of the game will continue over the coming months to upgrade it to an online multiplayer platform, with loads of Minecraft-style features.
The statement on the game’s Steam page says:
Lego Worlds will be a fully open-world, creativity-driven game so we want to ensure that we provide it with the utmost care and attention as we expand on our ideas. So much of this game will be about building and sharing and by sharing our plans with the community, we hope to incorporate their feedback and build an experience together that fans of LEGO and this genre of video games can enjoy.
Last week, one Lego buyer found an advert for the game inside a playset and posted the image online, but publisher Warner Bros declined to comment at the time.
But now the game is a reality and gamers can “explore, discover, create” to their hearts’ content. Everything looks awesome here!
