Police officers, soldiers, emergency services and intelligence officials have been making the headlines in London today after taking part in the biggest counter-terrorism exercise in the country to date.
Over 1000 officers are taking part in the drills that allegedly took six months to arrange. The operation has been dubbed ‘Operation Strong Tower’.
The drills in central London come just four days after the horrific terror attack that claimed the lives of up to 30 Brits in the Tunisian city of Sousse.
This comes as news broke yesterday that Scotland Yard has created an SAS-style unit of specially armed officers trained to counter the threat of a terrorist attack in Britain.
The 130 specialist counter-terrorism officers will be equipped with new weapons and have been trained in new tactics, including ‘fast-roping’ from helicopters.
