Sometimes you read stuff that really restores your faith in humanity and after hearing that one young girl managed to get 300 strangers to attend her birthday party, and all from a Facebook post, today has become one of those days.

Mackenzie Moretter from Shakopee, Minnesota, was preparing to celebrate her tenth birthday when her mother realised that her party might be a little bit thin on the guest side of things and asked the Facebook community for help.

Mackenzie suffers from Sotos Syndrome, a rare condition that delays her developmental progress and makes it hard for her to socialise with others, and after mother Jenny Moretter received no RSPV’s from her daughter’s classmates, she made a Facebook group which ended up with 700 members, 300 of which came to the party, with many more sending presents and birthday wishes from all over the world.

The party was so popular that it had to be moved to the local park, and in a touching gesture, the Mayor of Shakopee declared the day Mackenzie Moretter day and presented her with a certificate to remember the occasion by.
