When an MP in New Zealand accidentally swore in Parliament, the designated sign language interpreter showed her consummate professionalism by continuing her job undeterred.

Ron Mark muttered “Shut the f*** up” under his breath after he was repeatedly interrupted in the chamber. His fellow MPs initially missed the comment but it certainly didn’t get past this interpreter.

The sign language interpreter was present in the chamber as part of Sign Language Awareness Week and let everyone on TV know what Mark had said with a quick flick of her middle finger.

A red-faced Ron Mark subsequently apologised, saying his outburst was aimed at a “group of MPs that were behaving the way they were”, but he conceded it could have brought the house into disrepute.

The hilarious moment has even spawned a hashtag on Twitter, with social media users voicing their opinions along with #STFU.
