This is ABC 11 news reporter Larry Stogner, and this week he announced his retirement live on air after 40 years of broadcasting.

Larry, who loves his job, isn’t retiring due to old age though. The 68-year-old TV veteran has ALS, also referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Remember all those Ice Bucket Challenges last year? They were in support of people like him. In fact, he even did one himself, not knowing that ALS would change HIS life in the not-so-distant future.

His message is pretty heartbreaking, but he handles it like a true professional and surrounded by his ABC 11 colleagues he signs off in style. Enjoy that break with the missus, Larry.
