Just when we thought we’d seen it all on the Internet, a video of Deal or No Deal host Noel Edmonds wearing women’s clothing and blasting his former employees at the BBC pops up.
Yes, you read that right, the former Noel’s House Party man and mate of Mr Blobby adopted a female alter ego to criticise the BBC, in what has to be the strangest viral video we’ll see for a good while.
As reported by the Mirror, Noel uploaded the three-and-a-half minute rant to YouTube under the name ‘Priscilla Prim’ – a fictional BBC executive who speaks in quite the high pitched voice and looks eerily reminiscent of Hyacinth Bucket.
In the incredibly bizarre ‘partly political broadcast’ on behalf of the ‘Not The House Party’, Noel/Priscilla says:
It’s jolly good family entertainment, of the kind with which we no longer with to be associated. By watching Noel’s House Party and telling your friends about it, you’re reminding them of a bygone age, when we at the BBC had an entertainment department.
This was closed down when we ran out of ideas of how to entertain the public in a way in which they found entertaining. Furthermore, this was family entertainment and these days we don’t entertain the idea of such a thing as a family.
So it seems that Noel is still a tad bitter about the BBC axing Noel’s House Party back in 1999, and he even told the Sunday Mirror last week that BBC executives ‘haven’t a clue what makes a hit show’.
Ultimately, the odd video seems designed primarily to promote a new ‘Noel’s House Party’ channel on YouTube.
Well, it’s certainly one tactic to get eyes on the channel. Scarring us all for life…
