Capcom has released a brand new gameplay trailer for Resident Evil 7 as part of Gamescom 2016, and it is (unsurprisingly) pretty horrifying.
If you were one of the people who thought the E3 reveal trailer was a little light on things that go bump in the night, then this new effort is filled with awful things to remedy that.
Seriously, if you’re exploring an old house and severed baby doll heads are hung about the place, that’s probably a sign you should leave.
Capcom explained the trailer’s story in a press release:
Set within the sinister plantation house in Dulvey, Louisiana, the Baker family, including Jack and Marguerite, were residents but no-one has seen or heard from them in a while. Where could they be? One thing is clear in the latest content to be shown from the game – there’s something not quite right within the plantation. Who is the mysterious girl in the gameplay? What does Marguerite want with her?
Missing people and mysterious motivations – so far, so Resident Evil. Thankfully, the more I see of the first person approach, the more I’m convinced it was the best move for the franchise.
Those concerned that Resident Evil is moving too far into PT territory can also relax, as Capcom confirmed that we can expect ‘signature gameplay features’ such as puzzles, limited inventory space, guns, and those sweet green herbs we all love so much.
Resident Evil 7 comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 24, 2017. Pack a change of trousers.
