Reality TV shows are everywhere and on pretty much everything, from dating to how people look, to how they live, and now, some genius has come up with a new show, The Briefcase, that pits poor people against each other for prizes.
The American show has picked people ranging from those who literally are poverty stricken, to those who are desperate for money to pay for IVF, to war veterans and families with sick kids.
They will compete for a case of nearly £70,000 in cash and are paired with another family (who often have massively differing views and morals) and have to decide if they want to keep the cash, split it, or give it all away. They then meet the other family and are told that they both got cases of cash and had to make the same choice.
If the family elects to keep the cash, they get it. If they give it away, they have no money and the aim is to ‘teach them what they value most’.
The show has been called ‘sick’ and ‘a real life Hunger Games’ though there doesn’t seem to be any killing or Katniss in sight.
