People were pretty taken by the flamethrower guitar in the new ‘Mad Max’ movie, but perhaps none more so than this guy who was inspired to make a version himself.

In the film, the ‘Doof Warrior’ features a flamethrower guitarist bungee-strapped to the front of a massive boombox on wheels. Because why not?

Missouri-based DIY enthusiast and Make editor Caleb Kraft has now built his own special ukulele version of the epic weapon from scratch.

In his introduction to the guide on how to make the instrument of destruction, Kraft lays out the vision behind the new toy, saying:

I didn’t want to try to replicate exactly what he had, and I also wanted to scale things down to be marginally safer. My version can be built from hardware store parts in a very short amount of time.

Apparently all you need to make one of these for yourself are zip ties, electrical tape, a caulking gun, a butane canister and a ukulele (obviously).

Check out the video tutorial below if a fire spewing string instrument is your must-have item of the summer.
