I quite like going on a bike ride. A leisurely ride on a sunny day, stopping off for an ice cream. Lovely stuff. But riding along a cliff face? Nah.
I’ve got a decent roadbike that I often fall off, and I am really rubbish with heights. That is why mountain biking isn’t for me, and watching this makes me feel both envious and nauseous.
The ‘White Line Trail’ is called that because, as you can see, there is a white line across it. Creative. That is a white line of sandstone in Sedona, Arizona. It is also one shit-scary line to ride!
Michal Kollbek is the nutcase in the video, a mountain bike pro, thankfully. Otherwise the video might have had a very different ending.
Kollbek said to the Huffington Post:
I was confident with my skills and knew I could execute it. The key was to block the out the scary thoughts about the potential danger, so I just focused on the trail and not on the terrifying space around me.
I live for thrills like this, and I would have tackled this line whether it was filmed or not. The drone was a bonus, and [videographer Marshall Mullen] did a great job capturing the moment. However, it’s not for everyone, so I strongly advise inexperienced riders against trying this line.Advertisement
Okay Michal… I shall take your advice.
