A wild boar in Hong Kong caused chaos when it wandered around a shopping centre and got trapped in a children’s clothes store.
The female boar escaped from its natural forest habitat and went exploring in the Chai Wen Mall for several hours.
Reports say the animal climbed up a ladder before falling through the shop’s roof, as startled shoppers watched the action unfold.
The confused boar then jumped to the floor and ran around the shop knocking over manikins and signs, and generally causing mischief.
The 25kg (55lbs) animal was eventually caught, tranquillised then taken to an animal rehabilitation centre.
Speaking to the South China Morning Post, the shop’s manager said:
It just came in out of nowhere, and turned around at the window. It also pushed open the fitting room door and got in. Pigs are actually not stupid.
Wild boar are common in Hong Kong’s countryside, and can become aggressive when confronted, which isn’t fun considering they can grow to 2m in length (6.6 feet) and weigh up to 200kg (440lb).
To be honest, we just think the boar was sick of bulls having all the fun and wanted to get in on the action.
