When she stepped out for the first time since finishing her chemotherapy treatment, Rachel Bruno was expecting to have a celebratory evening with her friends. What she ended up getting was far from that.
The 33-year-old was asked to leave entertainment centre Latitude 360 in Indianapolis after staff there decided her hat was in violation of their policies.
Bruno was of course wearing the hat to cover her baldness – a result of the chemo treatments she had been going through – and was obviously angry and embarrassed at the request.
An apology would be nice, it was publicly humiliating because you feel like you don’t know who all is listening.
I was embarrassed to be asked to leave based on a hat.
Thankfully, she has now been given a very public apology – but frankly, it should not have happened in the first place.
