A social experiment by the boys at TrollStation recently pitted a woman against two men in the middle of London.
The woman, dressed in a crop top and high heels, becomes subject to some harsh sexist verbal abuse by two different men in two different social situations on the streets of the capital – and the response is pretty eye-opening.
In the first instance, a male actor dressed in a suit and tie, hurls verbal abuse at her in broad daylight while she is stood at a cashpoint. Thankfully, however, a group of women stood nearby step in to defend her with some verbal abuse of their own – and they do a pretty good job.
In the second situation, she is bombarded by an Irish man in the middle of Piccadilly Circus while people watch on. The abuse gets pretty harsh, and the guy even prompts other men to get involved by asking if they think she looks like a slut.
The atmosphere is understandably pretty awkward, and nobody seems to want to step in other than two men who attempt to calm the man down later on in the clip. Then, right at the end, a woman (another actor) gets involved and an argument quickly escalates into violence when the guy is bottled in front of everyone.
The area quickly and unsurprisingly empties, and the video – which has already racked up 100,000 views in a few days on YouTube – abruptly comes to an end.
Did they go too far? Or does the world need to see these ‘social experiments’?
