Put aside your ego for one second and bask in the chill vibes of this dog, who adopted nine ducklings he found wandering about on their ones.

10-year-old Fred – nicest labrador/dog of 2018, if not the decade – has since raised the chicks at Mountfitchet Castle in Essex, England, since their mother vanished off the face of the Earth.

Pictures have emerged taken by the castle manager showing the ducklings chilling on top of Fred at the local tourist attraction.

Jeremy Goldsmith, director of Mountfitchet Castle, said, according to the Daily Mail

We knew the mother duck was nesting and then suddenly these ducklings appeared but she was nowhere to be seen. We think it was possibly a fox.

While a member of staff added:

They are getting very mischievous even hitching a ride on his back and following him into the water for a swim in the castle moat.

Castle staff wrote in a Facebook post:

Fred the resident dog at the Castle stepped up to the challenge when nine little ducklings became orphaned last Thursday.

The ducklings’ mum had disappeared and a member of staff found them waddling around the castle grounds alone.

The team were very worried about the ducklings but Fred, a 10 year old Labrador, immediately took to them and has been babysitting ever since. [sic]

As if things couldn’t get much cuter, the ducklings apparently sleep in Fred’s dog basket.

Clearly, this dog knows the drill. Instead of spending his days indoors and wasting his time drinking water and trying to convince his owners he’s a good boy, Fred knows the alpha route is to already be aware of your good-boy status and then test yourself to become even greater, and that’s what he’s done.

Mountfitchet Castle is a Norman Motte and Bailey castle, made from wood and at one point, an Iron Age hill fort.

The historic site was also a Roman signals fort before becoming a Saxon and Viking settlement. It was then savaged in 1066 by William the Conqueror.

Fred, an inspiration that stretches beyond the animal kingdom, is the person we wanna see looking back at us in he mirror. He’s the guy we want walking down the street with us, talking to girls with. Part boop-lover, part-wingman, Fred’s the whole package.

Best of all? He doesn’t ask for our attention and praise, choosing instead to dish it out on these nine chicks he’s pulled.

Keep doing you, mate.
