Dozens Of Firefighters Battling Blaze At London Zoo


Up to 70 Firefighters are battling to extinguish a blaze at a London Zoo.

The London Fire Brigade said they received a call at 6.08am and that around 70 officers and ten fire engines were currently working to put out at a fire which started in the cafe and shop area of the park.

The closest animals to the area in which the fire is burning is the meerkat enclosure – although it is not reported that any animals are in immediate danger.

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said:

Approximately half of an adventure cafe and shop, which also contains an animal petting area, is currently alight.

It is not believed any animals are involved at this stage.

They added that at the moment the cause of the fire is still not known, and latest reports are that the fire is now being brought under control.
