Ah, to be a dog owner. Dogs are great pets, great companions, great animals. But – unsurprisingly – they often do whatever the hell they want whenever they want to.
An untrained and excitable dog getting off its lead and running away or chasing something, for example, is a rite of passage for any dog owner. Who will ever forget the screams of ‘Fenton!’ when one such dog did exactly that.
Of course, not long after this happens, there is (hopefully) the sweet relief of the beloved pet returning, perhaps a bit shaken after their misadventure, or completely unaware of the stress they’ve just put their human through.
One dog in Kansas, however, gave its owners the surprise of a lifetime when, after running off one night and not appearing until the following day, it returned with another dog and a goat in tow.
I believe it was the beginning of some sort of animal runaway gang, like when kids threaten to run away and get to the bottom of the road before realising they’re cold and hungry and just go home again, only with two dogs and a goat.
The Labrador’s owner, Kyle Krier, said:
My wife let our dog out of the house to go to the bathroom at 6pm the night before and told me there was another white dog in our yard and Bo took off and would not come back.
We looked all over the place for him and could not find him. We decided to go home and wait for him to come back but he never did.
I went out in the morning to look for him and found no sign of him anywhere. My wife saw that someone had just about hit a black lab, a white lab and a goat on the road.
My wife called me and told me the news and I knew right away that was our dog. I left work right away. I saw the crew out in a cut bean field on the east side of the highway.
You can watch it here:
Thankfully, Kyle and his wife got their dog Bo back, and it seems like they’ve also acquired another dog and a goat in the process – it must’ve been a cold night, they all jumped in Kyle’s truck without any real hesitation! Not something I’d usually recommend.
Just imagine the japes these guys got up to, though. I imagine it’s like a real life Homeward Bound, but instead of the emotional reunion after the family have moved house, it’s just a tired guy who’s slightly annoyed at his dog for being out all night.
Still, at least he welcomed all the animals into truck to make sure they were safe. Can’t wait for the sequel. It could be called Dog Dog Goat…?
