Strangers Raise Thousands For Cat That Survived Vicious Acid Attack
Brace yourself, this story about a cute and cuddly kitty falling on hard times is pretty heartbreaking.
Meet Sir Thomas Trueheart (great name). This stray cat was roaming California, when some awful human being decided to pour acid over his head that burned away about half his face.
He appeared in a woman’s garden not long after the horrific ordeal in Los Angeles County and she immediately knew something was up and immediately took him to the vet.
An exam revealed Tommy was FIV positive and vets considered putting him down, but the woman alongside her daughter were having absolutely none of it.
They circulated the story of Thomas’ demise all over social media, which got the attention of Milo’s Sanctuary, a non-profit rescue that specialises in providing care for special needs cats.
He was given around the clock care, but unfortunately lost his eye which was simply beyond repair.
Over the next month they dealt with his other ailments, building up to the biggest part of Tommy’s recovery- a three hour surgery which would reconstruct his face and head.
During his recovery he has amassed thousands of fans on Facebook, with Milo’s Sanctuary being inundated with offers from people who want to adopt him, but unfortunately due to his ongoing medical needs they have had to politely decline.
So they’ve instead put Sir Thomas on their Lifetime Care Program, so he will have a safe and loving home for the rest of his life.
Some awesome person has even created a GoFundMe page to pay off his outstanding vet bills, which has already smashed it’s $10,000 target. This at least offers us some hope that even though the world is full of evil people, there is also a lot of good guys out there.
We wish Sir Thomas all the best in his recovery.
