It turns out that a sizeable portion of vegetarians aren’t actually as strict about their diets as they might claim, with one third admitting to eating meat whenever they get drunk.
According to a new survey, the lure of a late night kebab proves too much for many veggies, with two in five of the 1,789 questioned owning up to grabbing some greasy donor meat from a takeaway after a few beers.
One in three even said they indulged in eating meat every time they went out drinking. Awkward…
The survey, conducted by money-saving website Voucher Codes Pro, found that kebabs and burgers were the most common meat food of choice for not-so-strict veggies – with 39 per cent admitting they opted for kebab meat and 34 per cent for a burger.
George Charles, founder of Voucher Codes Pro, said:
I know a few ‘vegetarians’ who sometimes crave meat, but it seems that a few are giving into their cravings when drunk. I think it’s important for friends of these ‘vegetarians’ to support them when drunk and urge them not to eat meat as I’m sure they regret it the next day.
Still, at least most of the veggies did admit they felt pretty guilty whenever they lapsed into eating meat, with 69 per cent admitting they didn’t tell anyone about their late night kebab munching.
Don’t worry guys, we won’t tell anyone…
