Phobias are pretty much universally viewed as being irrational, and it is important to bear that in mind when reading through this list of very odd fears.
And so, without further adieu…
The fear of being watched is probably pretty common. Fear that it is a duck with his gaze fixed upon you is a little more niche. Trips to the park must be hell.
You wouldn’t want to be diagnosed with this without just cause. Pronouncing the name is just as challenging as the condition. Paraskavedekatriaphobia is the fear of Friday the 13th, the day not the film.
Genuphobia is the fear of knees. Do your own count?
Pentheraphobia could perhaps be the most understandable phobia on this list. It is the fear of your mother-in-law.
Hate awkward small-talk? Well if that feeling is entrenched within your core you may have Deipnophobia, the fear of dinner conversation.
This one must have made birthday parties pretty awkward. Globophobia is the fear of balloons.
Keep your head down if you suffer from Nephophobia, the fear of clouds.
Turophia is the fear of cheese. Ironically you may be spared nightmares caused by cheese with nightmares of cheese.
Agyrophobia is the crippling fear of venturing from one side of the street to the other.
Pteronophobia fills sufferers with dread at the thought of being tickled with feathers. Imagine the double whammy of Pteronophobia alongside Anatidaephobia?
How do people gain these fears to begin with?
