Mark Wahlberg Has Revealed Why He Left The Super Bowl Early

For the fifth time, the New England Patriots are the Super Bowl champions. And it took the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history to do it.

Unfortunately, well known Patriots fan Mark Wahlberg wasn’t there to see it.

New England was trailing 28-3 with a little over two minutes remaining in the third quarter – it didn’t look good for the Patriots, and that’s when Wahlberg was seen leaving the stadium.

The evidence:

Assuming Wahlberg didn’t make it back into the stadium, he missed his team’s epic comeback: Scoring 31 unanswered points to stun the Falcons in overtime and take home the title.

According to Sports Illustrated’s rough estimation, he left approximately 15–20 minutes before Julian Edelman made the insane catch that thrust the Patriots on to tying the game, forcing overtime and then winning.

Fans assumed the actor left out of frustration – after all, his team was losing at the time. But as it turns out, he wasn’t ditching the Pats last minute. He left because his son wasn’t feeling well.

Cue a collective ‘aw’.

Taking to Instagram, Walhberg wrote: “I had to leave the game early because my youngest son wasn’t feeling well. Trust me, I would have loved to be at the stadium — but family first. Doesn’t mean I don’t love my Patriots too!”

Hopefully they recorded the rest of the game on TiVo. It was, after all, one of the best wins in Super Bowl history.
