One Nil Up And England Still Managed To F*ck It Up

England were heavy favourites going into their game against Iceland, and despite failing to top their group in the qualifiers, it was a kind draw for Roy Hodgson’s men.

Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy et al were all in high spirits before the game, with the skipper’s son even pictured on the beach in a Vardy shirt.

The game kicked off and immediate England won a penalty – and it all looked like it was going so well when Rooney scored.

Then, classic England struck – and they conceded not one, but two goals.

Obviously the internet was in fine form, from abuse directed to Hodgson, to jokes about why Mum goes to Iceland – oh, and the classic question of just why Harry Kane takes set pieces, and we’ve got the best of it…

One nil up…
