Adele Defended By Fans Over Reaction To Camera In Her Face

Fans have rushed to Adele's defence online, after she faced backlash for appearing to ignore a camera that was focusing on her face.

Fans have rushed to Adele's defence online, after she faced backlash for appearing to ignore a camera that was focusing on her face.

Celebrities really can't catch a break, can they? Not only do they have to deal with being approached in the streets on a daily basis, signing autographs, and being photographed, but they also now apparently get called out for deciding to ignore a camera and simply act like a normal human being.

The Easy on Me singer came under fire after she was caught on camera at the NBA All-Star game in Ohio yesterday, February 20, not looking into the lens.

However, many fans have since leapt to the 33-year-old's defence.

Check it out:

On January 21, Adele took to Instagram to make a tearful announcement to followers that she was having to cancel her Las Vegas residency because of it being 'absolutely destroyed by delivery days and COVID'.

To make up for the last-minute cancellation, the singer even FaceTimed fans who had travelled to see her at Caesar's Palace.

However, upon being spotted at the NBA All-Star game, seemingly avoiding the camera's gaze, some took the opportunity to call out the 33-year-old. 'Adele be doing everything but her Vegas residency,' one commented. Another similarly noted that Adele was supposedly 'everywhere except rehearsals'.

Supporters of the star have since leapt to her defence, questioning why she is required to have to look into the lens and can't just be left in peace.

One reflected: 'It’s almost like celebs sometimes want to be left alone and treated like normal people lmao.'

Another questioned whether the star even knew she was being focused on within the shot. 'I assume it’s just reallyyy zoomed in and not actually “in her face” so she might’ve really not known?,' they stated.

A third reasoned: 'Or maybe she wants to enjoy the game without a camera in her face lol.'

The singer hasn't yet revealed new dates for her tour, Weekends With Adele, however she promised fans that 'more info [would be] coming soon'.

Those who had already travelled to Las Vegas for the show – which the star called off just 24 hours beforehand – also received free merchandise and were promised a free meet-and-greet with Adele to make up for the cancelled performance.

In the meantime, whether Adele goes to an NBA game or wants to pole dance in a club, many fans' messages are clear: celebrity or not, just let the woman live.
