Amber Heard says she has received thousands of death threats because of the trial with her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

The couple are finally coming to the end of a drawn out defamation trial, which has seen the pair discuss the most intimate parts of their troubled relationship.

Depp is suing his ex-wife for $50 million dollars over an article she wrote several years ago.

The op-ed, which was published in 2018, saw Heard claim that she was a survivor of domestic abuse.

And while it did not name the Edward Scissorhands star specifically, he says it badly affected his career, causing him lose millions of dollars. In turn, Heard countersued Depp for $100m.

Today, 26 May, 2022, Heard broke down as she described receiving thousands of death threats as a result of the trial brought against her by Depp.

Taking the stand again, the 36-year-old said: "Now, as I stand here today, I can't have a career, I can't even have people associate with me because of the threats and the attacks they have to endure. And I can't do my charity work.

"I receive hundred of death threats regularly, daily. Thousands since this trial has started. People mocking my testimony about being assaulted.

"It's been agonising... agonising, painful, and the most humiliating thing I've ever had to go through. I hope no one ever has to go through something like this. I just want Johnny to leave me alone, I want him to leave me alone.

"Johnny has taken enough of my voice. I have the right to tell my story ... I have the right to my voice and my name. He took it long enough."

One of the main points of contention during the trial has been how Depp injured his finger during an argument with Heard in Australia back in 2015.

Depp claims Heard smashed a vodka bottle on his hand, while she argues that the Pirates star did it to himself.

Earlier today, Dr Robert Gilbert testified on how Depp could have sustained the finger injury which saw the top of his finger severed.

Dr Gilbert also stated it was 'highly unlikely' the injury was sustained in the way Heard previously described.

He said: "So a vodka bottle which is a hard object would have crushed the tip of the finger resulting in the [...] fracture.

"And in addition, as the vodka bottle broke, the glass would have lacerated the finger resulting in the soft tissue loss that was also seen with this injury."

He added that Heard's description of how the injury was ascertained was 'highly unlikely'.

Dr Gilbert explained Heard's recollection of how the injury came about was unlikely because of two reasons.

The first, because 'in general, when an injury is caused by punching against a wall or hard object, it is extremely rare to see an injury to the tips of the fingers, which is seen with Mr Depp's injury'.

He stated: "Generally you're holding something with a fist, and that in general leads to injuries most commonly of the knuckle [...] or [...] boxer's fractures. The second most common after those would be injuries to these, [the joints between the knuckles and finger tips] but as you can see, if you're holding something and hitting against something, it's very unlikely that the tips of the fingers will be injured.

"In addition, just taking into account the radiographs and pictures of the injury, I would not believe that solely a blunt force against a wall would result in the soft tissue loss."

The trial is set to come to an end tomorrow, 27 May, 2022.
