Amber Heard Responds To Clip Showing Her With James Franco While Johnny Depp Was On Tour

The Aquaman star continued giving evidence, and Depp's legal team grilled her about the footage

Amber Heard has been questioned about CCTV footage of her with James Franco while Johnny Depp was on tour.

Depp is suing ex-wife Heard for $50 million (£38.2 million) in a defamation lawsuit over domestic abuse claims she made in a 2018 article in The Washington Post, and the trial recommenced yesterday (Monday 16 May) after a week-long hiatus.

Aquaman star Heard continued giving evidence today (Tuesday 17 May) and she was questioned about CCTV footage of her and James Franco.

The video was recorded in the elevator of the Eastern Columbia Building, in Los Angeles, at around 11pm on 22 May 2016 - when Depp was on tour with his band, Hollywood Vampires.

"You knew that Mr Depp was out of town the week of 21 May 2016 didn't you?" Depp's attorney Camille Vasquez asked.

"I don't know what I knew of his schedule at the time," Heard replied.

"You knew that Mr Depp was out of town on 27 May when you went to get the domestic violence restraining order, isn't that right?" Vasquez probed.

"I don't know if I knew that at the time," Heard said.

"You knew Mr Depp was heading out on a European tour that week, isn't that right?" Vasquez asked.

"I'm not quite sure what I understood of his schedule at that time," Heard replied.

Heard has previously said that Depp 'hated' Franco and was 'mad' at her for taking the job in the thriller The Adderall Diaries (2015), because the actor was also in it.

She stated: "He [Depp] hated, hated James Franco. And was already accusing me of kind of secretly having a thing with him in my past, since we had done Pineapple Express together."

Depp is suing Heard for $50m (£38.2m), and she has issued a counterclaim for $100m (£76.4m).

The pair began dating after meeting on the set of 2011 film The Rum Diary and got married in 2015. Heard obtained a restraining order against Depp the following year and they finalised their divorce in 2017.

In 2020, Depp lost a libel case brought against The Sun over an article in which he was labelled a 'wife beater'.

He has denied all allegations of abuse.
