Fans of rapper Bad Bunny have taken to social media in awe over his rapid success after he started out as a supermarket check-out boy

Fans of rapper Bad Bunny have taken to social media in awe over his success since starting out as a supermarket check-out boy.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican rapper - real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio - first rose to fame for his song 'Diles' which came out in 2016.

He has since gone on to win multiple awards, top charts and collaborate with other widely known musicians - Diplo having even branded him the 'biggest star in the whole world right now,' as per GQ.

However, Bad Bunny started from very humble beginnings and his rise to success has been widely recognised and praised by his fans.

In an interview with GQ, Bad Bunny opened up about growing up as the son of a schoolteacher and truck driver.

The rapper explained how he was a 'shy' kid, despite often 'being a clown,' and didn't enjoy school, having to be convinced to go on the threat of not being allowed to listen to fellow Puerto-Rican rapper Tego Calderón.

Despite going to the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo, Bad Bunny soon realised he 'wanted to be an artist,' and on top of failing most of his exams, decided to drop out.

However, the path to success never did run smooth, with the rapper forced to pick up a grocery job at his local supermarket just before he dropped out of university.

It was only through his friend convincing him to upload his music onto SoundCloud which led to him becoming recognised, gaining hundreds of thousands, to even a million, plays.

From a university drop-out and grocery bagger, Bad Bunny was soon picked up by Rimas Entertainment and has gone on to win a whole host of awards.

From two Grammys to eight Billboard Music Awards, Bad Bunny has shot to success at a rapid rate considering less than 10 years ago he was a check-out boy in a supermarket.

His album, Un Verano Sin Ti, released in 2022, has even seen the rapper make Grammys history for being the first ever Spanish-language album to be nominated for the Album of the Year award.

Fans of the rapper have since flooded to Twitter in support of the star and to praise his success.

One said: "It’s crazy to think that bad bunny was working at a grocery store in 2016 and now he’s the f**king king of Latin trap music. Follow your dreams."

"Why people talk so much s**t about Bad Bunny though? From working at a grocery store he became the hottest Latin artist in less than a year," another wrote.

A third theorised: "In 2016, Bad Bunny was bagging groceries and uploading his music to SoundCloud.

"Now he’s selling out stadiums, topping every chart, and getting ready to star in a Marvel superhero movie in 2024.

"His life story is gonna get turned into a movie."
