Betty White died on New Year's Eve, less than three weeks before what would have been her 100th birthday.

The legendary Golden Girls star touched the hearts of millions, and following her death tributes have been pouring in from all over the world for the 'cultural icon' and 'treasure' that many were hoping to see reach 100.

Fans have been able to get one last look at the star, thanks to a video filmed days before her death and shared on Instagram by her assistant Kiersten.

Kiersten posted the video on social media to thank fans of the star for raising so much money for the Betty White Challenge.

The video was a quick clip of White directly addressing her fans and delivering a heartfelt message to them in recognition of their years of adoration.

She said, 'I just want to thank you all for your love and support over the years.

'Thank you so much, and stick around.'

Per Variety, the Betty White Challenge raised $12.7 million for charity on January 17 – what would have been the star's 100th birthday – with hundreds of thousands of people putting money towards a cause White would have loved.

The money will be going towards benefit shelters and rescue operations for animals; a tribute to White's lifelong love for animals and advocacy for their welfare.

Explaining the reasons behind the post, Kiersten wrote, 'Good morning! As we continue to see number coming in from all over the world — it’s just absolutely amazing how much money all of you raised for the animals through #thebettywhitechallenge.

'She could never have imagined such an outpouring of love and would have be so grateful to everyone. She was using the occasion of her 100th birthday to celebrate YOU - her fans.'

'She knew how lucky she was; she felt the love, and she never took it for granted. I think it’s appropriate to post today as a thank [you] from Betty and the animals.'

During her life, White worked as an animal advocate and established a long-running partnership with the Los Angeles Zoo that began all the way back in 1966 when it first opened. The star celebrated her 90th birthday at the zoo in 2012.
