Dua Lipa Had Very British Response To Jack Harlow Asking Her About His Song 'Dua Lipa'

Rapper Jack Harlow named a song after the British pop star

Dua Lipa had the most British response ever to Jack Harlow asking for her thoughts on his 'Dua Lipa' song.

The American rapper revealed he wanted to get the pop star's blessing prior to releasing the track.

The song is featured on his new album Come Home The Kids Miss You, which dropped on Friday, 6 May.

Harlow appeared as a guest on The Breakfast Club podcast where he spoke about reaching out to the star in private.

He said: "I wanted to get her blessing, so I FaceTimed her and played it for her because I didn’t want her to be blindsided by that or feel like creeped out or anything.

"If she had said, ‘Yo, I hate it. I don’t want it to come out,’ it wouldn’t have come out."

However, it was her reaction what is quite possibly the most British reply ever.

Harlow added: "She was like, ‘Oh, I mean it’s not my song. I suppose it’s OK.’ She was just kinda thrown off and she just kinda let it go."

As awks as the exchange might have sounded, the rapper insists the two artists are 'less awkward' now.

He explained: "We’re good. We’ll see how the record does. I think when the song comes out, she’ll grow to appreciate it even more."

Well, Dua might have some justification for sounding like she's not the biggest fan of the song, although she is yet to comment on it publicly.

The lyrics include: "Dua Lipa, I’m tryna do more with her than do a feature."

Harlow explains that he wrote the song because he 'admires' her.

In a previous interview with Sirus, Jack said Dua was 'so confused'. "She was like ‘what the hell?’ but she gave me her blessing. Said it was totally fine with her."

Recently, Harlow has come to the defence of Lil Nas X and the homophobic criticism that has followed.

In an interview with The Guardian, he said: "The totally inappropriate reaction to [Lil Nas X] lets you know that we still have some progress to be made.

"And you hear it in passing; there’s still some homophobia going on. But he’s taking the hit that artists won’t have to take in the future. That’s what makes him a hero."
