Ellen DeGeneres Accused Of 'Sexualizing’ Jacob Elordi In New Interview

Ellen DeGeneres has faced backlash on social media for allegedly objectifying Euphoria star Jacob Elordi.

Ellen DeGeneres has faced backlash on social media for allegedly objectifying Euphoria star Jacob Elordi.

The host interviewed the Australian actor - who is also known for his starring role in The Kissing Booth series - for The Ellen Show.

However, her focus and reaction to the 24-year-old actor's nude scenes in HBO drama series Euphoria, in which he plays manipulative teen Nate Jacobs, has left some viewers fuming.

Noting how the actor is 'naked a lot' in the series, DeGeneres asked Elordi how it feels and if he is consulted by the scriptwriters about how he feels being nude so frequently.

Elordi replied: 'You have no choice. Every scene is like, "He sleeps with this person, he does this with this person naked."

'But it's like, it gets to the point. I've done some movies where it's like [my character] goes to the mall shirtless. And you're like, "Why?"'

DeGeneres responded: 'Well because look at you, that's why.'

The host's comment caused Elordi to sip his drink awkwardly.

Despite how DeGeneres drew comparisons to a possible double standard between women and men in the industry, reflecting how a woman would 'probably' be asked if they minded 'being naked on camera,' some viewers of the show called the host out for 'sexualizing' Elordi.

One social media commented under a reposted clip from the interview on Instagram: 'It’s sad because people shouldn’t be sexualized like this. He seems uncomfortable.'

Another commented on the clip: 'Really not loving Ellen anymore or her vibe.'

Another user wrote: 'Ellen DeGeneres is trash, and we’ve known that for years now. She loves to make people uncomfortable, and clearly, Jacob Elordi is no different than anyone else that she has purposely and objectively made feel uncomfortable for entertainment and ratings.'

Elordi agreed with DeGeneres when she questioned if having done such scenes so many times meant that he was 'comfortable' doing them now.

The actor also noted that such nudity 'comes with the territory' of his character in the series, who is 'this ultra, macho, masculine jock'.

He said: 'So those guys, I think, tend to get around pretty shirtless, so it's sort of OK.'

Elordi added that having the same crew members throughout the different seasons and an intimacy coordinator present during the filming of such nude scenes has all aided in making him feel more comfortable.

Despite fan's backlash, just days after the show aired, Elordi took to his Instagram stories with an image of himself walking onto The Ellen Show, captioned: 'I love Ellen @theellenshow <3'.
