An upcoming memoir from The Umbrella Academy star Elliot Page will explore his relationship with his body and the 'cesspool' of Hollywood.
Page is set to offer insights to both his career as a Oscar-nominated actor and his experiences with coming out as transgender in the memoir, which is titled Pageboy.
Throughout his career, the 34-year-old has starred in titles such as Inception, Hard Candy and the 2007 film Juno, for which he earned his Academy Award nomination.
More recently he has taken on the role of Vanya Hargreeves in Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, though details about his new book indicate that his experiences with Hollywood have not all been positive.

In an announcement about the upcoming title, Flatiron Books said, 'The memoir will delve into Page’s relationship with his body, his experiences as one of the most famous trans people in the world, and will cover mental health, assault, love, relationships, sex, and the cesspool that Hollywood can be.'
Following the announcement of his transition in 2020, Page told Vanity Fair that the 'most significant difference' in his life was that he was able to 'just exist'.
He explained, '[I don't] have some constant distraction, all these things that aren’t conscious or aren’t even overly overt. For the first time in, I don’t even know how long, [I am] really just being able to sit by myself, be on my own, be productive, and be creative. It’s such an oversimplification to say it this way, but I’m comfortable. I feel a significant difference in my ability to just exist — and not even just day to day, but moment to moment.'
The actor has undergone top-surgery as part of his transition, and told Oprah Winfrey last year that the procedure had been 'life-saving', saying, 'It’s, you know, getting out of the shower and the towel is around your waist, and you’re looking at yourself in the mirror and you’re just like, ‘There I am'.

'And I’m not having the moment where I’m panicked,' he continued. 'It’s being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body probably for the first time.'
Page is vocal on his social media pages about supporting transgender people and advocating for trans rights, regularly encouraging his followers to get involved by sharing details about changing laws and information on ways in which people can take action.
Pageboy is set to be released in 2023.
