The 85-year-old has finally revealed the reason why 'she gave up drinking', as she clearly understands that alcohol affects people differently at different ages.

Fonda said in an interview with CBS News: "It’s because even with one drink, like, if I had a martini tonight, I would be at half-mast tomorrow."

"Now, that wasn’t true when I was younger. But as you get older, I think alcohol affects you differently. And I only have so many tomorrows left. I don’t want to be at half-mast for any of them!

"What bothers me is that my body is, you know, basically not mine! My knees are not mine, my hips are not mine, my shoulder’s not mine. You’re looking at somebody who’s only me from here up.

"The fact is if you’re alive and relatively healthy at an older—I mean, I’m almost 85. The fact that I’m still alive and working, wow, who cares if I don't have my old joints? And I can’t ski or bike or run anymore? Eh. You know, you can be really old at 60, and you can be really young at 85. Health!," Fonda said.

Jane has sold almost 17 million copies of her famous exercise tapes from 1982 to 1995, most of whose profits she gave away.

Fonda explained: "I thought, well, maybe I should start a company that will fund what we're trying to do. And I had a very smart friend who said, ‘Never go into a business that you don’t understand.’ But there was one thing I knew, which was exercise."

Recently, Jane Fonda spoke out about an incident where JLo apparently bruised her skin in physical combat during a scene in the hit 2005 rom-com, Monster-in-Law.

In a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, Fonda revealed that the staged slap didn't end up going quite according to plan.

She told Barrymore: "The thing that comes to mind right away [for Monster-in-Law] is we have a slapping scene. I slap her, she slaps me."

The Grace and Frankie star continued: "Well, Jennifer – as per Jennifer – she had this enormous diamond ring.

"And so, when she slapped me one of the times, it cut open across my eye, my eyebrow."

Fonda added: "You know, she's never apologised."
