Jimmy Fallon’s tense exchange with Amy Poehler resurfaces amid workplace allegations

Amy Poehler and Jimmy Fallon reportedly had a tense exchange, according to Tina Fey’s 2013 autobiography.

A tense exchange between Amy Poehler and Jimmy Fallon has resurfaced after the TV host was accused of creating a toxic work environment.

This comes after Fallon reportedly apologised to staff on The Tonight Show after Rolling Stone published allegations from two current and 14 former employees about the alleged conditions in the workplace.

“It’s embarrassing and I feel so bad. Sorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends,” Fallon reportedly told Tonight Show staff on Thursday evening, according to Variety and Rolling Stone.

“I feel so bad I can’t even tell you.

“I want this show to be fun, it should be inclusive for everybody, it should be funny, it should be the best show, the best people.”

Now, it seems that somewhat of an awkward exchange between the two former Saturday Night Live co-stars took place during a table read.

Quotes from actor and writer Tina Fey’s 2013 autobiography 'Bossypants' alleges that Fallon, 48, and Poehler, 51, once had a bit of a heated discussion.

“Amy Poehler was new to SNL and we were all crowded into the seventeenth-floor writers’ room, waiting for the Wednesday night read-through to start,” wrote Fey.

“Amy was in the middle of some such nonsense with Seth Meyers across the table, and she did something vulgar as a joke.

“I can’t remember what it was exactly, except it was dirty and loud and ‘unladylike.'”

“Jimmy Fallon turned to her and in a faux-squeamish voice said, ‘Stop that! It’s not cute! I don’t like it',” Fey continued.

“Amy dropped what she was doing, went black in the eyes for a second, and wheeled around on him. ‘I don’t f**king care if you like it'.

“Amy made it clear that she wasn’t there to be cute.

“She wasn’t there to play wives and girlfriends in the boys’ scenes.

“She was there to do what she wanted to do and she did not f**king care if you like it.”

NBC told PEOPLE in a statement: “We are incredibly proud of The Tonight Show, and providing a respectful working environment is a top priority. As in any workplace, we have had employees raise issues; those have been investigated and action has been taken where appropriate. As is always the case, we encourage employees who feel they have experienced or observed behavior inconsistent with our policies to report their concerns so that we may address them accordingly.”

UNILAD has contacted a representative of Jimmy Fallon for comment.
