Joe Rogan And Jordan Peterson Under Fire For Skin Colour Comments

Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson are facing backlash for skin colour comments.

Controversial podcast host Joe Rogan has come under fire following his recent podcast episode with Jordan Peterson.

While being interviewed for the The Joe Rogan Experience, Peterson, a clinical psychologist, spoke of Michael Eric Dyson, a Black academic and a sociology professor at Georgetown University.

Since the episode aired on Tuesday, January 25, people have taken to Twitter to share their outrage, following comments Peterson made about Dyson.

The clip starts with Rogan saying: 'depending on who you ask, you're a voice of reason and rationality, and personal responsibility, or your a voice of intolerance and bigotry and anger and hateful'.

Rogan is referring to the mixed opinions on Peterson, who is a self-proclaimed 'professor against political correctness' and popular in conservative circles.

Rogan goes on to explain people's response to Peterson, saying: 'what did Michael Eric Dyson call you? A mean, angry white man?'.

Dr Dyson has had disagreements in the past with Peterson about political correctness, although Rogan seemed to brush off Dyson's past comments, saying: 'hilarious. You're not mean at all. That's what's dumb about that statement. You're not mean at all'.

Following this, Peterson replied with his controversial comment: 'I am white - actually that's a lie too. I am kind of tan. And he was actually not Black, he was sort of brown'.

Rogan then declared 'I'm darker than you. That's ridiculous', with Peterson saying that 'neither of us are white'.

Peterson then continues to speak about Dyson, saying 'and he was brown not Black'.

It is at this point that Rogan gets into a lengthy and uncomfortable speech, saying: 'well, isn't that weird. The Black and white thing is so strange because the shades are such a spectrum of shades of people. Unless you are talking to someone who is like 100% African from the darkest place where they are not wearing any clothes all day and they have developed all of that melanin to protect themselves from the sun, even the term Black is weird. When you use it for people who are literally my colour, it becomes very strange'.

People soon responded in outrage on Twitter, with one user writing: 'imagine as a race making up the concept of race then gaslighting other races about their race’s existence'.

Another user added: 'great. Two white guys trying to police what Black people call ourselves'.

Rogan and Peterson have not yet commented on the incident.
