Johnny Depp Performs Again As Jury Set To Resume Deliberations In Defamation Trial

The jury are set to continue deliberations in the case between Depp and Heard this week

Johnny Depp took to the stage in the UK to perform alongside guitarist Jeff Beck for a second time this week as the jury in his defamation trial prepare to resume deliberations.

The seven-person jury began deliberations on Friday, 27 May, following weeks of testimony from Depp, his ex-wife Amber Heard and numerous people connected to the pair.

Depp is seeking $50 million after Heard indicated she had been a victim of abuse by the actor, while Heard is seeking $100 million in a countersuit filed after Depp claimed the accusations were false.

The jury is set to resume deliberations today, 31 May, and could even deliver a verdict on the case today, but for the last two days Depp has stayed far away from the courtroom in Virginia.

On Sunday, the actor surprised attendees at Jeff Beck's concert in Sheffield by appearing on stage to play guitar and sing alongside the Beck. He made a second appearance at London's Royal Albert Hall yesterday, when he and Beck performed their 2020 track 'Isolation', a cover of the song John Lennon released in 1970.

Footage from the event shows fans cheering and shouting Depp's name as Beck began to introduce him, saying the pair kept the actor's appearance quiet 'for obvious reasons'.

Angela Flannery, a Beck fan who was at the concert on Monday, admitted she was 'pretty shocked' to see the Pirates of the Caribbean star walk out on stage in London.

Speaking to Sky News, she said: "I have) always been a massive fan of his. My other half took me to this gig just to see Jeff Beck, I had no idea Johnny would be playing. It was brilliant, such a fantastic night in general… a special mention to the drummer girl, she was absolutely amazing (and) Johnny Depp smashed it.

"I'll die happy (that) I've been in the same room as him now," Flannery added.

The jury will continue to deliberate on both Depp’s defamation suit and Heard’s countersuit today, determining whether each party will receive damages. The jury may choose not to rule in favour of either party, or decide to reward them damages of a different amount to that they are seeking.

Their decision will be based only on what has been presented in court, as the jury has been restricted from reading updates on Depp and Heard in the media.
