Justin Bieber Forced To Cancel Shows Due To Face Paralysis

Earlier this week, the singer announced he would be postponing his upcoming dates and he's now revealed why

Justin Bieber was forced to postpone a number of tour dates due to developing facial paralysis after contracting a virus. You can see him talk about the illness here:

Earlier this week, Bieber posted on his Instagram Stories to announce that he would be postponing his ‘next few shows’ due to an undisclosed illness.

Just hours before he was due on stage on Tuesday (7 June) the singer wrote: “Can’t believe I’m saying this. I’ve done everything to get better but my sickness is getting worse.

“My heart breaks that I will have to postpone these next few shows (doctor’s orders). To all my people I love you so much and I’m gonna rest and get better.”

Now, Bieber has opened up about the illness that has left him unable to move the right side of his face.

In a video shared on his Instagram, Bieber explained: “I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and is from this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.”

At this point in the clip, the singer attempts to move the right side of his face but is unable to.

“As you can see, this eye is not blinking,” he said. “I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move. There’s full paralysis of this side of my face.”

He went on: “So for those who are frustrated by cancellations of my next shows, I’m just physically not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious, as you can see.

"I wish this wasn’t the case, but obviously my body is telling me I gotta slow down and I hope you guys understand. I’ll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to 100 percent so I can do what I was born to do.”

Bieber then stressed that he was resting and doing ‘all sorts of facial exercises’ to get the movement back in his face and return to ‘normal’.

He added: “It will go back to normal, it’s just time and we don't know how much time it’s going to be, but it’s going to be OK. I have hope and I trust God and I trust this is all going to be OK.”
