Holocaust museum invites Kanye West for visit after his antisemitic tweet

Kanye West has been invited to visit a Holocaust museum after sharing antisemitic posts on social media.

The rapper's Twitter and Instagram accounts were locked after he posted messages that violated the policies of the social media platforms.

In a tweet sent late Saturday (8 October), Ye said he would soon go 'death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE' - an apparent reference to the US military readiness condition scale known as Defcon.

He added: "You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda."

The 45-year-old has been condemned following his bizarre remarks, and Holocaust Museum LA has urged him to visit and educate himself.

In a statement, the museum said: "Words matter and words have consequences Ye. We urge you to come visit us at Holocaust Museum LA to understand just how words can incite horrific violence and genocides.

"The Holocaust started with only words that sadly begat stereotypes, racial and religious tropes and blaming others and led to the murder of six million Jews.

"At Holocaust Museum LA it is our mission to commemorate those who were murdered, educate on the Holocaust and all genocides including the genocide perpetrated against the Armenian People (of which your children would be included), and inspire a more dignified and humane world.

"Your words reach millions and you can choose to incite or you can choose to inspire.

"We are located at 100 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90036 and welcome you any time."

It comes after Ye was criticised for wearing a White Lives Matter T-shirt to his collection at Paris Fashion Week.

Rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs posted a video on Instagram saying he did not support the shirt, and urged people not to buy it.

On Instagram, Ye posted a screenshot of a text conversation with Diddy and suggested he was controlled by Jewish people.

Under their policies, the two social networks prohibit the posting of offensive language. Ye's Twitter account is still active but he cannot post until the suspension ends, after an unspecified period.

Meta - which owns Facebook as well as Instagram - will sometimes place restrictions on accounts that it deems repeatedly break its rules. The sanctions may include temporary restrictions on posting, commenting or sending direct messages.

Ye had returned to Twitter on Saturday following a nearly two-year hiatus, reportedly after Instagram locked his account.

Billionaire and Tesla chief executive Elon Musk, who last week renewed his $44 billion (£39.6 billion) offer to buy Twitter following a months-long legal battle with the company, greeted Ye's return to the platform before his suspension, tweeting: "Welcome back to Twitter, my friend."

Musk has said he will remake Twitter into a free speech haven and relax restrictions, although it is impossible to know precisely how he will run the influential network if he does take over.
