Katy Perry has opened up on her new life in Kentucky, claiming that she’s had an ‘amazing experience’ that has taught her that ‘Hollywood is not America’.
Well, in a very real way Hollywood is America - like - it’s a part of the United States of America.
We’re being pedantic there, though - she probably just means moving out of the celebrity hotspot and to somewhere a bit quieter.

Presumably she also means that there is more to America than just that one sunny and chaotic part of California, but living there can make you forget that sometimes.
That’s why Perry - who shares a young daughter with fiancé Orlando Bloom - moved out of Los Angeles and into the state of Kentucky.
In a recent appearance on Chelsea Handler’s Dear Chelsea podcast, the 38-year-old singer said her move has been ‘quite an amazing experience’ and said that moving into a new ‘bubble’ outside of LA has been great for her.
She told Handler: “I’m living, like, in Kentucky and I have for almost a month now and that’s quite an amazing experience,

“Because it reminds you that Hollywood is not America.”
Getting out of Los Angeles has helped her to ‘understand people better’ and made her appreciate that it can be ‘nice to go outside of what you know to be normal and your reality’.
Having settled into their new home, Perry went on to say that she now lives in a ‘bubble’ that is ‘completely opposite’ from Hollywood.
This might be a new thing for Perry, having grown up in a very religious household, as Handler asked her.

“You’ve been in different bubbles, because you grew up in a bubble,” she said.
“You grew up super religious and that’s one bubble. Then you came into this industry, that’s another bubble. Right?”
Perry responded: “Right, it’s an anthropology study of humans.”
As well as her move to Kentucky turning out a success, Perry ranks her decision to start a family as the ‘best decision [she] ever made in [her] entire life’.

Admitting that she wasn’t ‘very maternal’ as a younger woman, she said that watching Bloom with his son Flynn - who he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr - was what ‘influenced’ her to have children herself.
“Something inside of me said, ‘You, mid-30s, this man is nice. Must breed,’” she said.
“My daughter has reshaped my life, my perspective, and given me a love I’ve never had before.”

As for her relationship with Bloom, it hasn’t been without ups and downs.
The pair got together in 2016, split up in 2017, but got back together and announced their engagement in 2019.
Offering some advice to a listener, Perry explained: “Your partner usually sees your best and a lot of your worst sides because they’re there to be your mirrors.
“And we love it because it just keeps us in tune and the resentment can get really strong when you’re both working hard and, god bless, successful people in the spotlight.”
Now, she says that the pair just want to be ‘normal’ and raise their child, adding that couples’ therapy has helped them out along the way.
