Kiss Accidentally Wave Wrong Flag To Thank Austrian Fans

Kiss were performing at the Stadhalle in Vienna at the weekend

Kiss accidentally waved the wrong flag to Austrian fans at a concert in Vienna at the weekend.

The band, who were performing at the Stadhalle, thanked fans for their attendance by embarrassingly putting up the Kiss logo set against the Australian flag.

Just so we don't get confused, that's Australia which is on the complete other side of the world from Austria.

The mistake was pointed out by Twitter user Ben Nguyen, who captioned the post: "Kiss played in Austria last night (emoji of the Australia flag).

One fan wrote: "I’m an Australian with Austrian heritage. Why is geography so hard? But gotta laugh!"

Another added: "Oh dear, was it the Australian Kiss playing Vienna or an Australian sound and light guy with a sense of humour?"

While a third commented: "This is hilariously dumb on so many levels.

"1. Several people must have been aware of this graphic, from graphic designers to managers to @kiss

themselves.

"2. None of them knew what the Australian flag is.

"3. None of them knew what the Austrian flag is."

Someone else, who told a brilliant story of their father, said: "When I was a kid my dad had a t-shirt that said 'There are no kangaroos in Austria' and the number of people who would stop to correct him..."

Another joked: "Now can we change our flag. Bloody New Zealand copy ours and now the bloody Austrians.

"What next? The UK?"

The band announced the End Of The Road world tour back in 2018 before they (fully) retire out of 'self-respect', bassist Gene Simmons told NME.

"The reason for stopping touring is because of pride and self-respect and a love and admiration for the fans," he said.

"The last thing you wanna be is to be a world-champion boxer and stay in the ring too long."

As the rockers are all over 70, this will likely be their final final tour.

"We’re gonna quit while we’re on top, do the best we can, and it’ll be sad, but it’s also gonna be happy," Simmons said.

"On the last show we ever do as a touring band, I’ll be crying like a 12-year-old kid whose foot you’re stepping on."

Kiss will be Down Under, performing nine shows around the country in August later this year.
