Millionaires Kylie and Kendall Jenner Confused By The Word 'Frugal' In Interview

Kendall and Kylie Jenner have become the subject of online scorn for not knowing what the word 'frugal' means.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner have become the subject of online scorn for not knowing what the word 'frugal' means.

As defined by the Oxford Languages, the adjective 'frugal,' means 'sparing or economical as regards money or food'.

To give the sisters their dues, it's unlikely there would ever be a conversation in which the two millionaires from one of reality television's most notorious families - one sister with an amassed fortune of $900 million (£680m) - would need to use such vocabulary.

However, with Kendall admitting she had never heard of the word before, and Kylie looking equally as bemused while playing a game of 'Most Likely' with Access Hollywood alongside the rest of the Kardashian family, the duo have subsequently come under fire.

In response to the interviewer asking: "Who's the most frugal of the bunch?" Kendall responded by turning to Kourtney to check what the word meant.

She said: "What does that mean? I don’t even know what that means."

Her elder sister explained: "You care about cost. Like money."

When the penny dropped, Kendall nodded and replied holding up the card of herself: "Oh yeah, I'm cheap!"

However, while Kylie didn't voice her confusion, viewers were equally as quick to jump on her for her expression of slight alarm and peer over to her sister's cards which appeared to be an attempt to follow the crowd, perhaps due to her own misunderstanding of the word.

In response to the clip being posted to TikTok by @amkardashian, followers flocked to the comments to respond to Kendall and Kylie's bafflement surrounding the word.

One user wrote: "Kylie didn’t know too lmao."

Another said: "Kylie waiting for the answer, then acting like she came up with it is everything."

A third commented: "Kendall had no idea, yet agreed it's her when she found out... Kylie, had NO damn idea, and followed, couldn't even fake smile through it."

A YouTube user wrote: "Imagine being so rich you don't even know what the term 'frugal' means."

Another wrote: "Kendall Jenner not knowing what frugal means is not iconic."

Meanwhile, a Twitter user pointed out: "Why is this news? Of course they don't know what the word means - it doesn't apply to them. They have never had to experience it."

While not vocalising her confusion, Kylie Jenner was also rinsed online for appearing panicked by a question containing the word 'frugal'.

While Kylie's net worth may soar far above her sister's, coming in at just short of a billion, Kendall still has a cool $45 million (£34m).

Kendall is one of the highest-paid models worldwide and Kylie sold 51 percent of her company Kylie Cosmetics to Coty Inc in November 2019 for a whopping $600 million (£458m).

The pair are also the daughters of momager Kris Jenner and former Olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner.

Kendall and Kylie form part of the Kardashian family who first shot into the limelight because of Robert Kardashian acting as one of OJ Simpson's lawyers.

The family then established reality TV series Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

The new series The Kardashians premieres on 14 April. You can catch it on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
