Everyone Is Saying The Same Thing About Phoebe Dynevor's Met Gala Outfit

The theme is ‘Gilded Glamour’ but all eyes are on the Bridgerton star for the wrong reasons.

The 2022 Met Gala is officially underway, and there were high expectations for Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor.

This year's theme is 'Gilded Glamour', which is meant to pay homage to prosperity, industrialisation, growth, and - of course - style in America from 1870 to 1890.

Although the theme itself has been roasted as tone-deaf due to past and modern inequality issues in a time of high inflation, it's happening nonetheless - and critics think some celebrities that should have nailed the brief, well, didn't.

Enter Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, who arrived in a lacy, black, and somewhat see-through ready-to-wear frock from from Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer collection of 2022.

She should have been the diamond of the Met Gala, but alas, many have been left wanting more.

Some have even questioned why she didn't just swipe a costume from the show, set in the same time period (albeit in the United Kingdom).

Twitter users have been quick to judge (because of course they have).

One social media user commented: "I thought of all people in attendance she would’ve at least been on theme."

A second added: "I guess she's not allowed to borrow from the Bridgerton costume closet."

A third went as far as giving Dynevor a low 3/10 on the fashion scorecard, adding: "In my humble opinion, rarely should a person wear all black at the Met Gala. Phoebe my love, you were in Bridgerton, any look from your set wardrobe would have been better than this seemingly half-a*sed [and] not very gilded dress."

Last season's Bridgerton diamond isn't the only one who has copped a dressing-down from the fashion police on the Met Gala 2022 red carpet.

One Twitter user pointed out several other celebs that had also missed the mark, adding: "Hoyeon Jung, Phoebe Dynevor and even Vanessa Hudgens are not following the damn theme. This is bad as f**k."

Despite the criticisms of her look, Dynevor managed to pull off steamy and sultry - a far cry from her sweet and innocent Daphne that we all know and love in Bridgerton.

Dynevor also blew minds at Vogue's Met Gala pre-party, again choosing to wear Louis Vuitton, styled by Nicky Yates.

Her old-time Hollywood glamour curls were by hair stylist Christian Wood, from New York hair powerhouse The Wall Group.

Her dewy make-up look was all Charlotte Tilbury, painted on by none other than Sofia Tilbury herself.

So, her final Met Gala look just goes to show even the biggest celebs have off-days, or off-outfits.

Who knew.
