MrBeast has stood up for himself after being hit with criticism over a new video in which he helped 1,000 people hear for the first time.
Just a few months after announcing that he'd helped restore the sight of 1,000 blind people, MrBeast uploaded a new video titled '1,000 Deaf People Hear For The First Time'.
Featuring appearances from some of those he worked with, the video saw MrBeast explain that him and his team spent '$3 million' on 'cutting-edge technology' to provide people with hearing aids.
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, travelled to a number of different countries with his team, and said that while making the video he'd learned 'providing hearing isn’t the only way to connect people'.

“Sign language connects people whether they can hear or not. But access to learning sign language is still very limited in many places, so we’re gonna donate $100,000 to organisations around the world that are teaching people sign language," he said.
Many of those involved were clearly overwhelmed with emotion over being able to hear again, with some tearing up as they spoke with their loved ones.
Not everyone was on board with the video though, and MrBeast has received criticism from a lot of viewers, including a number of deaf people.

One deaf man tweeted: “People don't realize how exhausting wearing hearing aids can be. People also misunderstand the reality of using them because they don't cure deafness.
"There's still a lot of struggles on top of feeling obliged to wear them because no one will accommodate you.”
Another responded: "Hearing aids aren't an on/off switch. And hearing and listening are not the same thing. Listening takes a hell of a lot of mental effort when you have hearing loss with or without hearing aids."

One tweet read, "The way this scumbag just 'does good for people' really rubs me the wrong way," and of all the responses, it was this comment that the YouTuber decided to reply to as he attempted to defend his actions.
"I’m sorry, I just like helping people," MrBeast wrote.
The person who wrote the original tweet quickly responded to claim their comment wasn't serious, and that they were actually 'mocking the people that always hate' on the YouTuber, but there was still a whole lot of criticism going on.
MrBeast did receive some support for his efforts, though, with one fan saying the world is 'a better place when we are kind and helpful to one another'.
