It's no secret that Martin Scorsese isn't a big fan of superhero films.
Marvel and DC have been absolutely dominating the box office and the conversation for the better part of a decade.
There's a hell of a lot of money and hype that goes into these projects and Scorsese has said in the past that it's taking away from real cinema.

Well, it seems like Joe Russo has finally hit back.
The Avengers: Endgame director posted a video to social media where he appears to take a swipe at the legendary filmmaker.
He stitched his video with one of Scorsese interviewing a dog that's named Oscar.

Now, the dog could be called Oscar because it's a cute name or because it's meant to be a reference to his many Academy Award nominations and one win.
Russo says in his video that he loves the clip and then has his dog in his arms, which he has named 'Box Office'.
Endgame is the second highest grossing film of all time and some fans reckon the post is a little dig at Scorsese's past comments.
Back in 2019, the Killers of the Flower Moon director told British GQ: "I do think that the manufactured content isn't really cinema.

"No, I don't want to say it.
"But what I mean is that, it's manufactured content. It's almost like AI making a film.
"And that doesn't mean that you don't have incredible directors and special effects people doing beautiful artwork.
"But what does it mean? What do these films – what will it give you?
"Aside from a kind of consummation of something and then eliminating it from your mind, your whole body, you know? So what is it giving you?"

There have been plenty of other directors who have jumped on Scorsese's bandwagon since those comments.
Ahead of his new film being released, Scorsese said he was worried that young people might stop caring about films that aren't a sequel, franchise or superhero based.
In an interview with GQ, the legendary director said: “The danger there is what it’s doing to our culture.
"Because there are going to be generations now that think movies are only those—that’s what movies are.”

He added that Hollywood needs to 'fight back stronger' against this movement and that it needs to 'come from the grassroots level'.
"And you’ll have, you know, the Safdie brothers, and you’ll have Chris Nolan, you know what I mean?
"And hit ’em from all sides. Hit ’em from all sides, and don’t give up. Let’s see what you got. Go out there and do it. Go reinvent.
"Don’t complain about it. But it’s true, because we’ve got to save cinema.”
