Doja Cat under fire for ‘weird’ response to fans asking if she can say she loves them

Despite the fans clearly being besotted with the singer, Doja Cat has repeatedly hit out at her fans in recent months.

Being a fan isn’t easy right now – with rising gig prices and unobtainable tickets.

However, Doja Cat has seemingly given her followers a whole new reason to feel down as she called them out for their fandom name.

Whilst most of us would love to have a loyal fan base, the ‘Kiss Me More’ singer then had a weird response when fans ask if she loved them.

Despite her fans sweetly naming themselves the ‘Kittens’ or “Kittenz’, Doja Cat didn’t seem to have a whole lot of love for the nickname.

In a now-deleted post on Threads, the musician took aim at the group and pointedly told them ‘get off your phone’. (Bit harsh!)

The Grammy award winner wrote: My fans don’t name themselves s**t.”

“If you call yourself a 'kitten' or f**king 'kittenz' that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”

One fan account, @doja.cat.iran, even did the unthinkable and responded to the thread by asking for approval from the A-Lister.

They then wrote: “I wanna hear you say (I do love you guys) As usual you say to your fans.”

Sadly, the singer’s response was not particularly positive.

“I don’t though cuz I don’t even know y'all…”

(Ouch!)

In response to the 'Been Like This' singer, one fan added: "and we don't know you. but we have supported you through thick and thin. Mind you you'd be NOTHING without us. you'd be working at a grocery store making songs on f***ing garage band miss high school drop out..."

(Double ouch!)

Not having any of it, Doja replied: “...nobody forced you idk why you’re talking to me like you’re my mother b***h you sound like crazy person.”

The artist previously lashed out at her last two albums.

It’s not the first time that the 27-year-old has hit out at her fans.

Earlier this year, she blasted people for enjoying her last two albums and called them ‘cash grabs’. (Yes, really!)

This includes 2019s Hot Pink, which featured the mega-viral ‘Juicy’, and 2021's Planet Her, which had hits like ‘Need to Know’.

Even though she found mainstream success with these albums, Doja Cat tweeted about her hatred for the records back in May.

“Planet Her and Hot Pink were cash-grabs, and y'all fell for it,” she wrote: “Now, I can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while y'all weep for mediocre pop."

It comes as the artist prepares to release her fourth album, which will reportedly be more hip-hop-heavy compared to her earlier pop songs.

Although the release date has yet to be confirmed, the album is set to debut later this year.

Here’s hoping Doja-Cat and her fans smooth things over soon.
