Drake’s new face tattoo baffles fans as they argue over what it says

The rapper's new tattoo has driven fans wild with speculation

Drake has surprised fans with a brand new face tattoo, and people are already talking about what it could mean.

This isn't the first face tattoo that the rapper has had, with the first being his mother's initials underneath his left eye.

But people have been left perplexed by the latest ink, with many fans not even knowing what it actually says.

While the first face tattoo was a fairly clear meaning, dedicated to his mom, this one is a bit more difficult to figure out.

But if you look closely enough, the tattoo spells out the word 'miskeen' just above Drake's eyebrow in thin lettering.

In fact, 'miskeen' is a word originating in Arabic. In Modern Standard Arabic, which is used in formal settings such as academia, law, politics, and journalism, it means 'poor' or 'poor man'.

The word also means this in Somali and in the Somali Arabic dialect, with both Somali and Arabic being official languages in Somalia.

That's all well and good, but why has Drake had this word tattooed on his face?

Well, the word is also a slang word which is commonly used by Somali rappers.

This could have the formal meaning of someone who is poor, so a slightly odd word to get tattooed on your face.

But in Drake's hometown of Toronto, it is also used in the Somali community to describe someone who is sweet or innocent.

So it could be a nod to the Somali community in Toronto, which has been at the centre of a burgeoning rap scene over the last few years.

It has previously been observed that Drake has drawn artistic influence from Somalia and Nigeria and the countries' diasporas in Toronto.

That said, the musician himself doesn't have Somali heritage, which makes the new face tattoo even more perplexing.

Needless to say, people were more than a little confused by Drake's decision to get 'miskeen' tattooed above his eyebrow.

While many people didn't understand the meaning of the word, those that did understand were left even more puzzled why he would want that on his face.

One wrote: "He tatted 'miskeen' on his face?????" while another tweeted: "Getting a 'miskeen' tattoo on ur face is crazy man."

A third wrote: "No way it says miskeen bro who taught him this."

And another asked: "Does this say MISKEEN? Like the Arabic word MISKEEN? I’m so lost why would you tattoo that on your face or tattoo that at all?"
